How to install stock steering wheel?

Post by audioguru` »

So my 66 has a grant steering wheel and hub installed. I have obtained the correct custom cab wheel (lucky craigslist find) and am planning on putting that back on. So far as I can tell I just pull the wheel and adaptor and fit it back on. Also not sure if I can keep the billet collar (looks kind of cool - see picture). What I am also not sure is if there is any small hardware I will need. For example can I re-use the nut that holds the wheel on? Just want to have everything set and planned out for when I pull it apart. https://www.dropbox.com/s/0ib3hpvzxolgiqb/belts.JPG

You might loose the billet collar.

How about posting a picture of what you have to install? Because it looks like you'll need more than a steering wheel.

Hit a pull n save and find a 70s f series with a floor shifter and grab the collar from that. It appears you have the turn signal part attached to the billet collar..

You might be able to keep the billet, but I dont know.

i do not think you will be able to keep that collar
also dont think it will look good with the stock wheel, just an opinion.

looks like maybe that grant collar is over the factory one and the turn sig stalk can just be unthreaded for removal.
the stock wheel has a spring behind it and a nut on top, no big deal for installing.
probably you will need the horn contact

heres an exploded view

I think to know exactly what you will need, you will need to at least pull yours apart to see what was used.. the diagram above should tell you what you need... are you selling the aftermarket one? I could be interested for my '66...
