Things I saw at Slick Stock - 6
Posted: August 24, 2014, 5:24 pm
It was a fun week. Here's a few things that I experienced and saw, how about you.....
an active 2nd shift
slot car races
rain, heat, humidity
Santa Clause
s'mores
heard a joke, or 200
Santa Clause racing slot cars
hot apple pie traded for hippie juice and a comparison taste testing taking place
valve cover races
very patient, understanding, forgiving wives and girlfriends (never with the same man that I knew of)
suits of armour, chain mail and a nervous desk clerk
big block turbo motor doing a nice burnout
a little boy racing slot cars with a smile so big his face had to hurt the next morning
BBQ
Santa Clause racing valve covers
crew cab slick with a working transmission!
a big boy with a smile so big his face had to hurt
cowboy poetry
running chop top
food, lots of food
a psycho tricycle
no major breakdowns (nerves or vehicles)
wine in the lobby (you can't drink in the lobby, remember that)
Iowa Speedway from on the track
ice cream
"Cas Truck" going around Iowa Speedway
a large pedal car
Sprint Car Museum
top hats (3 this time)
an Australian, a Canadian, a Kansan and an Iowan were driving down the road, not the start of a joke, just 4 guys headed someplace
pickups, all colors, options, engines and styles
old men with smiles so big on their (my) face it had to hurt the next morning
"Eventually" going around Iowa Speedway
slick ramp truck with a slick passenger
disappearing chop top
14 slicks winding thru the Iowa countryside leaving a wake of pointing and smiling "citizens" along the sides of the roads
casino (no big winners I heard of)
shiny paint, dull paint, no paint
bidding wars (a penny at a time, really?)
Gatorade, Mason jars and small glass jugs
guys swarming a new arrival
cops in the parking lot several times and nobody "assuming the position"
children laughing, ranging from a few months old to.....well lets just say some people had a lot of "experience with life"
A great time was had by all, our hosts Darrell and Robyn were great and worked tirelessly every day, the motel was happy, the cops were happy, saw old friends and made new ones, stole some ideas for my truck, shared some I knew of and got home tired so we must have done it right! Thanks everyone for the fun!
