65-66 core support

Went to the Obsolete (classic auto parts) store in OK city and purchased a new core support. They have a new one that is not in the catalog. They call it a 65-66 core support but it is really a 65 that you modify for a 66. It has the fender brackets on it. You have to drill out spot welds and remove the 65 radiator brackets. You also have to drill holes for battery tray. So far that's all I see but haven't installed on truck yet. Waiting until I get engine and tranny in to do the rest. Seems easier than modifying the 61-64 core supports. They are $299.

Sounds like the one LMC sells. If so, it also has the '65 radiator brackets to be removed for the '66 application.

How backwards is that. I have a 65, and I would want 66 radiator brackets. You can get a 66 radiator at any parts house, but can't find one for a 65.

'66 radiators can be bolted directly to the core support once '65 style brackets are removed.

I installed a 65 core support in my 66 so I could use the radiator from the 77 F350 that donated its 460,I was suprised it mounted like a 65.

So- this may be covered somewhere else, but I need to verify: Will these new radiator supports fit? and work for my 1962 F100 4x4?

I am under the impression that it will fit just fine. But I may be mistaken. My original radiator support is toast. Nothing left of the lower part.

Can't tell you about the Obsolete application, but the LMC we received could be made to work with the early application.with some minor mofifications.
