Slick 60's

i finally bit the bullet and got me a 40lb blaster pot.. iveg heard they can be temperamental, but thats ok.. its got to be better than my old $20 siphon one... best part is i got it for free! i used some spiff money from work to make the purchase.. anyway ill have photos next weekend when i use it..

They work ok
Just have to have , DRY,DRY, air
Any moisture , just makes the sand get clumpy in the tank

ive got a water trap on my compressor and this tank came with a water trap as well..

interested to know how it works out. I have been wanted to blast some suspension component, and trim.

I bought one for the paint and body man at work. But i have not been there when he used it. I dont how good it dose.

I've had one for a number of years and love how fast it works compared to a siphon unit. I found a black slag blasting media at Menards that works a little faster than sand as well. Make sure you use a hood to keep the sand out of your eyes, ears and hair. I also wear a respirator or dust mask.

I used one of these a lot for race car frames. What I learned is the more air you have the better. You can't have too much air volume. They are air hogs. We now bite the bullet and rent the big tow behind compressor at the local tool rental place. Never have to wait for air and cuts time in 1/4 from my 5HP/2 stage/50 gallon compressor. I just plan to spend a whole day blasting to make it pay off but I get so much more done than an entire weekend before and not nearly as tired when done.

As stated above, I second the dry, dry sand. Sand is a silica producer, be sure to be safe.

I've also had good results from the black slag from Menards. Used that on the last 3 projects. Faster than sand and just a bit rougher surface than sand.

Something nobody else has mentioned is the top fill cap. Be sure you tap sand down in the tank before removing the cap and also be sure threads are clean when putting the cap back on. I've had one get stuck so bad we ended up torching the cap off and building a bolt on cap. Maybe this kid of stuff only happens to me.

yeah i got a 5 horse 60 gallon husky compressor and it keeps up pretty well.. it runs the mojority of the time but i never run out of air! dude i went from a siphon unit to this .. no comparison!!! i was grinning cheek to other cheek the whole time... it takes a 1" path off at a time.. its great!! now if its heavily painted it takes a little more blasting.. but hey im pleased lol
