Set the bed back on the frame today and cut out the opening for the gas neck. I also had to cut openings for my lowering shackles, but my bed wood will cover over that...

Gas neck opening. This will be hidden under my bed wood. I am going to figure out a hidden door for it.

Pulled the truck down in the driveway for a side shot because it is Saturday...

Warm clear weather today...so I got busy...I wanted to get the gas filler hole behind the drivers door welded closed.

Nice fairly warm day today...removed the exhaust and reworked it so that it doesn't hang down as far. I'm still not really happy with it, but it is tucked under the body and frame a little better. I've just piddled the past week or so with the truck. I have the wooden door inserts out and put some red mahogany stain and gloss poly on them. I am going to pull the bed back off and sand down the back of the cab and get it in primer. I'll have the camera handy the next time out...

I finished my oak door inserts today. My father-in-law does a lot of scrollsaw work and he did the Ford script for me. I'm happy with the results, red mahogany stain with 5 coats of polyurethane...

Installed...although I will remove the glued on vinyl....

For those who didn't catch it...and those who did, I had one of the inserts backwards. I had to peel the Ford script off, sand and re-glue it. I had one insert with the speaker toward the front and the other toward the back...duh....

Took some time this evening and fired up the heater in the garage and finished the outside of the tailgate...

I am thinking of pulling the bed back off and put it in the garage and bodywork and paint it...

That's what I got going now- bed off in the garage for rust repair, bodywork and paint. Good luck with the project. Look forward to seeing more.

Thanks...Shipwrecked. It's a dirty job, but we've have to do it. I was a little worried about spraying primer last night with the kerosene heater running in the garage. I just sprayed a little at a time and let the mist settle down. I didn't want to blow myself up...Thanks for the words of encouragement.

Last night I found the right and left bedsides from a '65 shortbed for sale. Hopefully will pic them up later this week and start repairing the bed. Pics to come...

Had a photoshop of the truck in white... paint the wheels either red or black...or even white to match the body...I like it.

Heatwave here in S.W. Virginia...23 degrees! Fired up the kerosene heater in the garage this afternoon and stripped down the inside of the tailgate. Shot some primer on it for now. Still trying to get to North Carolina to get the bed sides that I found on craigslist. The seller just contacted me and the only time we can get together is tomorrow....and they're calling for snow, sleet, and ice tomorrow. So it will probably be next week sometime. I really want to get moving on the bodywork and try to get this thing ready for paint by April. Stay tuned....

I love the direction your going with the truck. I have painted patches of 5 shades of blue on mine, but decided last week I'm going to stick with its original Wimbledon White color. Instead of the stock brown seat, I'm going to do black as well as a two tone black/ white dash/ door panels. I picked up the custom cab window trim, door panel trim and dash trim for some stainless accents. I am not a red guy, but really like the way those red rims look with the red stripe. I am thinking of rocket racing "strike" rims or a torque thrust of some sort.

What bed liner coating did you use?
