my 65 frt bumper seems to not fit well with the contour of the stone sheild. it seems to be almost straight, while the stone sheild seems to have a slight curvature. it's really nice and looks new, so i'm guessing it's a repop. do the repops not have the correct shape?

Welcome from Phoenix. Yes you can modify yours to fit. Find a good chrome shop that has the correct patterns for the bumpers, strip the chrome, have them straighten the bumper, bring it home and fit it to your truck. Grind the proper curve into the bumper and then send it back to be chromed again.
I'm sorry that this isn't always feasible to do but this is what I did for mine to make it fit like I wanted it to.

It was worth it to me to do all the extra work.

First the mounting is different from 63 to 64. You will find that the bumper listed for the 64 and up Ford trucks has a C4 part number if you buy it from Ford. It is fairly common knowledge that the bumper was changed in 67 to fit the flatter front curvature of that model truck. That being said, other options are available but costly. Find a good used painted bumper and have it chromed. For some reason, the painted bumpers seem to be easier to find in good condition, at least that has been my experience. Second problem is cost of plating and finding a good place to have it plated. Not easy now days. I believe I have a good straight bumper of the painted variety but cost of shipping is another problem. I live in southern Illinois.

Watch ebay for a good original and have it plated or powder coated to your preference. INHO!
