Fuel Pump

My 1965 292 has a hardline from the fuel pump to the carb. There isn't a fuel filter anywhere in the fuel system.

Since the pump has a small leak I thought I would replace it with a pump that has a canister filter.

Summit lists the pump for $30 and says its for a 292 and all FE.

DC has a pump for $40 and says its for 64-65 truck.

Is there a difference?

don't know what the difference is without the #'s? But, A 292 pump with a canister on the bottom is also what I use for my 64 w 292 also hard lined. Works great altho I must admit it is kinda handy to have a visible filter inline between pump and carb for easy inspection. The FE pump I am familier with does not have the filter on the bottom. I got mine from O'Reilly's Auto, but you might also check RockAuto.

If it is for a 292 or FE, it will work. 64-65 truck doesn't answer that.
If originality is not a concern, I'd choose a name brand I trust for the pump and install an in line filter - so I'd get it from Summit or Jegs. Jegs do free shipping for all orders.

I received my new fuel pump from DC today. Its in a Ford box with a Ford p/n. The pump says Carter on it.
