Slick 60's

I have been searching through a mountain of posts looking for the correct steering column combination for my application, so I thought I would just ask for a clear answer...

I have a 64 that I am performing the CV front conversion on.

1. Is it possible to mate the stock 64 steering column to the CV rack?

2. If so, can someone provide the steps?

3. If not, is there a replacement automatic column that will allow me to keep the stock 64 steering wheel and mate to the CV front?

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated. Sorry to rehash a topic that has been discussed so many times before.

The problem you will run into with the stock column from a 64 is that the steering shaft is also the worm gear for the steering box. You can cut it at the box and use joints and rails to connect to the CV steering rack. You should be able to look up any CV conversion for a ford truck from 53 on up as the old steering was similar. You might have a little less work by using a later column, 65 on up, as it already would have the bearing at the bottom that is not needed on the 64 and earlier.
