Buyers beware

Post by Kid »

If you are buying something from the net from someone you do not know take every precaution you can. We had a member try to screw over another member recently and luckily the buyer used Pay Pal ( I dont use them myself ) and got his money back but not after alot of going back and forth. I seen the e mails the buyer/seller sent to each other and the seller was 100% out of line.

It's a shame. Overall my dealings with car/trucks folks have always been positive, but there are snakes in the grass. Probably a bad fault but I'd rather start off from a point of trust than suspicion.

I know it's not your call... But why permit them to stay on the site...and give them a place to advertise and setup/cheat someone else... I'm pretty sure you have received emails from people who stated that have had similar dealings with this one guy... I know I have..Yet he is still allowed to Post items for sale.....His behavior reflects negatively on what ever site permits him to do this.... Then you have culpability.... Should and does the forum moral obligation to take action to keep this from happening again once they become informed?

Maybe levy sanctions like.. Not allow them to post items for sale?
Maybe temporary suspension to force them to settle up?

I know its just my opinion ..But doing nothing about it reflects badly on our hobby and this forum.. And places present and future members at risk...

At the very least, the seller tries to solve disputes by yelling and name calling. I wonder if he actually intends to cheat his customers, though? Hard to say. But they certainly end up unhappy.

Speedjester brings up an important point though. I feel we are in part responsible for the persons actions if we give him a base of operations. Given his reaction to criticism, he probably will have to be banned from the site.

There isn't a comfortable solution.
