I will try to make this short.
My truck original with 292 v8, was never in the truck, so I have nothing to go by.
Looking at the engine bay, cross members, front engine mount, and cab, it appears that the engine was centered in the frame, but that is just how it appears without measuring.
Looking at just the cab, the transmission hump is noticeably offset to the right side of the vehicle(passenger side).
Looking at stock front engine mounts on line (photos, parts, etc), it does not appear to be offset.

I have a couple of questions:
If the 292 v8 stock original position was offset:
- how much offset from center line was there?
- why was it offset? ( I read that it was to make more room for driver)

When others have done 302/460 sb/bb engine swaps, do you center or offset the engine center line?

Thanks.

The original mounts in my uni were centered.

I always offset any engine swap 1" to the right (passenger) side. It helps balance the engine vs driver weight, helps with steering clearance and makes throttle linkage easier to line up.

I believe it was about 1 inch offset. I may measure it tomorrow, if I remember.

Excellent. Looks like I have an addition to my plan.
Going to move the current location of my motor/trans over to the right by approximately ~1 inch from center.
Also, going to drop it ~1 inch as well, as it sits a little high.

Then that will give me clearance for brake booster and steering.

Thanks again with the suggestions. :)

I think the trans hump must have been moved over for more room on the drivers side,I noticed it being that way with my 66 when it looked like the trans was not centered in the hump.

If you measure your rear differential it would be in line with the motor . Wouldn't it . I think my 65/66 f100 is more than a inch but I don't remember how much. I'm thinking 3" ??? Tom
