Wooden Rack

Took some old 2x6's I had laying around and threw together a wooden rack for my truck. Originally my intent was to just have something to help with the load for the upcoming town dump day. The look is growing on me and it turned out better than I thought it would. I might tweak it a little bit and just leave it on. Anyone else using a rack on their truck?

Looks good
I run sides like that on my flatbed
I built them out of 2x4s also
I will probably paint them , but they're plain now

im racked up as well
made them for moving down here, but they turned out handy. took them off for a while last summer but put back before wood hauling
mine are reversed, the 1x4 boards are inside the 2x4 stakes. that way the boards push against the stakes when its full of firewood

i recently added some steel corners in the front and a crossbar.
i have 4" welded wire fence protecting the window.
i have a crossbar for the back end as well, usually i only put it on for hauling because it hurts if you forget and stand up and bang your head on it

ill try and get some pics

I'm still debating on paint. Don't want my rack to look nicer than the truck though lol.

Iceman - I'd appreciate some pics. Your set up sounds pretty heavy duty

My Pops ole 66 had many a side rack on it. That poor truck was worked so hard it would be a crime if someone did it now.

Seems like every truck my dad bought when I was a kid came with a stock rack on it. One of his "I need to buy this truck" arguments with my mom each time was he could sell the stock rack and cover a truck payment. She always saw thru him.

I don't have one now, but I was told my uni had a pipe rack at one time (original owner was a plumber). There's some extra holes drilled in the top of the bed rail which I assume were used to mount it. I'd be curious to see how it would have looked back then.
