gentlemen,

I need to move my fuel tank out the cab. Anyone know if a fuel tank from a 70's F100 fits or any suggestions of something that would fit and be readily available?

Thanks.

I purchased a '64-'72 Mustang gas tank, complete with sending unit and drain, from a company on ebay for $80 with free shipping. I had to trim less than 1/4 inch off of each side of my rear frame rails to be able to slide it in. It works with my gas gauge. Among the best modifications you can make to your truck.

I have put a 92 - 94 Mitsubishi Pajero tank in mine, after a slight trim of the chassis rails and flipping the rear cross members and it fits well, I`d say check out my build thread .. Beryl`s re- build :( but a lot of the pic`s have disappeared some how, here`s a couple of pic's... let me know if you need more info... Alan,

Thanks guys. I have heard that mustang tanks work well but can be pricey here. I like that setup Alan. Did it all work ok with fuel gauge etc?

Allen,
I am doing the swap with an Isuzu Trooper tank. I welded up a inch channel frame, for underneath support. A one inch spacer above as a spacer for clearance on the unibody.
Are you using the block fuel pump or an electric?

Hi I used a XD falcon panel van one in mine.
but the sender doesn't work on ohms reading because of the digital dash.
a xw-xc sender may fit, and a good clean tank is only worth about $80.
I used autometer universal gauge and sender in mine

John.. I`m going with the block pump, these do have a in tank pump but this didn`t have it in it when I got it from the wreckers. The mounting points are the same as in the Pajero..

How did you/are you going to attach the filler neck boys? I've seen some very neat installations out the side of the bed that looked factory, then I've seen some that need to be well..... Re thought out!! I don't want to have to climb into the bed or under the diff to fill it!!!

I would like to get the filler neck behind the number plate some how. But right now I would be happy with the filler neck through the bed.

New mustang tank is $300 including sender unit.

I want to keep the original dash cluster so want something that is compatible with original fuel gauge.

557f1 - Have you installed the tank? Any pics?

It's a never ending problem here, local idiots wanted $500+ for clutch master..... I think I paid about $60 from macs INCLUDING shipping to Australia.

If you are prepared for sea freight, I pay $60 per box to a bloke who brings containers over. It was the only way to economically get 1 piece carpet and all the bumpers etc. It is Melbourne delivery which could be an issue for you lot  but I can help you with pickup and onwards postage of need be.
