that is not an easy task, much easier to find a replacement column from another 61-66 4x4 f350 or f500
I have the old steering box and shaft out of my '66 F100 4x4 (I put power steering on my truck)... I'm guessing that doesn't crossover to a '61 though - can you confirm that ICEMAN?

Cheers,
Dion

also when I went to get it the guy took out the roll bar and the wheels in the back so if you buy something you better take it home with you when you make the deal

The F250 4x4s of the slick era shared the same steering box, steering shaft and steering wheel as well as front end parts (drag link, sector shaft arm, connecting rod tube) as the F350s of that era. It is a Gemmer 375. Find yourself an F350 parts truck and you'll find the box you need. F100 4x4s of the slick era will not fit.

The bed is narrower than the cab, yours looks right.

Correction, the 1961-1965 F100 4x4s do in fact use the Gemmer 375 box. The 1966 F100 4x4 is a different critter as Iceman said.

well for now I took and weld a rod inside the shaft so I could move it around un tell I make up my mind what to do with it

also found out why it broke the guy put the body lift in it never spaced the shaft down so when I went to put it back in there was a big gape between the shaft and the dash

took it for a drive no brakes could only get first and second gear and could back up two but could not find third or fourth going have to look at it more to see what I have to do

well started pulling the motor and transmission out of it front clip is just bought off then the motor will come out this weekend, and start making new mounts for my new engine and transmission, going to switch the front end to a Dana 44 out of a 1978 club cab and a 9 inch out of it with 3.50 gears have better brakes and better axles will need to work on my front springs, they are bent from having a plow on it at one time.

got the old motor and transmission out starting to put the new on in had to move the rear motor mount back a little and down had to move the TC back 8 inches to make a drive shaft work

the motor I put in it the truck only sat about a haft inch lower but I still have to fix my front springs when I do the axle swap
