Both sides!

Lucky..... I'd be happy with just 1 short bed toolbox!

I would also guess that the driver's side tool compartment was dealer installed, not installed at the factory.

The tool compartment for the 6 1/2' boxes is pretty rare and is MUCH harder to locate than the tool compartment for the 8' boxes.

I recall seeing at least one other drivers side box. I always suspected in was done after the fact.

Leroy- why not cut a long bed one down to fit? Definitely not easy, but could proably be done before you'd come up with an original one for a short bed.

i know this has been discussed before but there are 3 lengths of toolbox
small for all shortbeds 61-66 includes uni
medium for the 122" wb 61-63 longbeds including uni
large for the 128-129" wb styleside longbed 64-66

bumpside tool boxes are the same, only the door is changed

i do not know if any were ever made for the 9 foot fridge bed used on f350s

i have seen them on both sides as well, never examined one to see if its different from the other besides the obviouse reversal for sides

The short bed had a notch in the rear corner too clear the front end of spring, so it couldn't switch sides. Not sure about the longer ones.

Long beds are also notched. They wereclisted in the old Autolite parts catalog for both sides with part numbers for each. I have not looked in the later catalogs to see if they were listed for both sides of the later Stylesides, but pretty sure they were. With the option of outside frame fuel tanks on the bumps, the driver's side may have been eliminated as an option.

Were those hub caps around in 66?

I believe so, Chris.

The factory ’65-’72 Truck Master Parts Catalog (MPC) refers to these caps as a ‘Type 4’; while the succeeding ’73-’79 MPC refers to them as a ‘Type 2’.

To be '66 caps with '66 wheels, they'd have to be 'innie' mounted, right?

Over the years these caps were available as 'innie' mounting style up through '66, then as either in '67 and then as only 'outie' mounting style from '68 and later. They were also either painted argent or polished stainless steel.

I've never seen one other than pics so this might be a stupid statement but could it be flipped over and the hinges reversed to work on the other side?

I see no reason why they couldn't, Leeroy. The nine foot bedded Supr Camper Special hid the spare tire behind the cover Ice mentioned.

I have the passenger side toolbox.
If I ever find a drivers side toolbox I will add it.
I have a chain, jumper cables, 4-way and some odds and ends I keep in mine.

those caps came in both inny and outie style, i think 67 was the 1st year, the innys were used on the wide camper special 8 lug inny wheels
the ealier 61-66 caps had the ford lettering across the center section of the cap

i cut the centers out of an inny set to use on my front axle, ,just the right sise to clear the hub.
