Slick 60's

The cruise-o-matic tanked last week. I now have a C6 with the 390. Everything is hooked up with the exception of the speedo cable. The original cable screws into the cruise-o-matic but the C6 is a push in and lock. Is there an adapter or does anyone that has this combination have a part number. I need to go from the original sweep to a C6 transmission.......I AM SURE THAT i AM NOT THE FIRST TO HAVE TO FIGURE THIS OUT.........

pretty sure a cable from a bumpside with c6 would work or any large ford or merc car with a c6 up to the mid 70s when they switched from the threads to the clips on the back of the speedometer
truck would be 1st choice for correct length

Depends on the origin of your C6. Somewhere from around '68 to '70, the truck C6 used the thread-on cable; most others, C4, light duty manuals, etc., used the push-in secured by a horseshoe retainer and cap screw. I don't have my Ford manuals here, but the one you want if push-in with threaded speedo end is LMC p/n 47-2030.

A bit late in answering, but...

I have a couple push in speedometer cables from different trucks. Any idea what tooth count you need on the driven gear?

If you still need a cable let me know. I can bring it to the Albany swap meet.

Not sure of the tooth count. I am going to change out the gauges after xmas so will probably wait. On the other hand might be good to have one in case plans change. Which ones do you think you have? I will be going to the Albany Swap meet. Do you have a booth?

There are different styles as well as tooth counts for the gears. Rear gear ratio and loaded tire diameter would help get something close. I will do some research and see what I can come up with.

No booth at Albany, just going as a spectator. Drop me an e-mail and we can make sure we have good contact info.
