A member here mentioned that 65 did not offer power steering.

It is a good box as far as Bendix direct replacement goes. Pretty expensive if you don't have a core, though, by the time you buy pump, brackets, hoses, etc, IMO. It is a direct replacement, though, for the two wheel drives, negating the need for column change-out or mods.

i noticed this incorrect statement:

in fact it will not work for 65-66 f350 trucks as they do not share the same gearbox with the f100 and f250 as they were straight axle front end

in 67 f350s went from straight axle to twin i beam so for the 67-69 it would fit

you really have to watch these ads as they do not always provide proper info on fitment

Good point; I also seem to remember the need to change to the pitman arm made of unobtainium when converting the manual steering '65/'66's, but I could be incorrect again. Starting in '68, the choices widened, with some using the Saginaw-style Ford box, others remaining with the Bendix. Naturally those '68 steering columns for the Bendix application are also desirable and rare.

Closer to 3/4", as I remember. I have seen conversions using the Bendix box where nothing needed to be altered or modified, but this depends on the condition of the body mounts, body insulators, etc.

Yep, should be able to adjust the column to accommodate it, don't forget to check/ adjust shift linkage if so equipped. I need to see if I can find the info on the pitman arm; still not sure if change is required. Redhead should know, however.

most early 4x4 coversions use a toyota power steering box
it has been discussed here before you can do a search to find it

FIRST,, Way too much money if you have no core +++ No pitman arm,, Pitman arms for Bendix boxes are hard to find,, If your using a Bendix Box put a cooler for the power steering since the box comes out almost against the manifolds on a FE Motor and that was a problem on leakage of the Bendix Boxes getting to hot Below is the measurements on shafts
Non Power Steering < 3 bolt top cover > 34 15/16
Bendix Box < 4 bolt top cover > 35 5/8
Ford Box < 2 bolt top cover > 32 7/8

Lots of good info. I changed the title to make an easy search for anyone using this box.

I did the Bendix addition to a '66 because it is the correct box. The column (floor shift) fit no problem. I also helped a friend add a Bendix to his Cruiso-equipped '66. We almost ran out of adjustability with his original steering column. The 3-spd column shift might require surgery; don't know.
I also didn't have a Pitman arm; my steering specialist had a brand "C" piece that fits and works perfectly.
I bet you could find a core for less than that. People often don't know (or care) what they are.

I wish I would have grabbed the bendix box out of the 68 I got the column out of after seeing the core charge.
