Hello All -
I was under my dash adding a cigarette lighter to my 66 and noticed something I hadn't seen before.

Can anyone tell me the purpose of the spring near the headlight switch in this picture?

Thanks!
Corey

Looks as if it may have been part of the rheostat on the headlamp switch which controls brightness of the instrument lamps.

Time for a new switch. There is voltage on that bare wire bouncing around against grounded metal.

Thanks guys - I was afraid of that. Is it possible to use a switch from one of the newer 67-79 trucks?

Headlight switches are reproduced, 65-66 from carpenters.

I got mine from macs auto parts which was a ford reproduction at the time. Seems to be some imported thing from macs nowadays.

I got mine from NAPA. Don't recall the part number, but do recall it being much less than the specific suppliers and had it later the same day.
