THE FITTINGS IN THE TRANS ARE 5/16 INVERTED FLARE I USE 2 6' PIECES OF STEEL LINE USE BENDER SO YOU DONT KINK THEN RUN SHORT RUBBER LINES TO COOLER YOU MAY WANT TO RUN UNIVERSAL TRANS FILTER IN LINE IN HOSE 79 AND UP FORD USED DEX MERC FLUID SO AT THIS POINT YOU CAN USE EIYHER DEX OR TYPE F BUT DONOT DONOT MIX THE TWO FLUIDS USE ONE OR THE OTHER DEX IS EVERY WEAR TYPE F IS BETTER BUT NOT EVERY WEAR AND IS HARD TO FIND ON THE ROAD

Did you have any trouble getting the C6 bell housing past the front cross member that is riveted in?

Yes i did.... i ended up having to take it out. Im sure if the motor was pulled and trans was installed as a whole it wouldnt have been an issue

I figured as much. I am getting ready to do the same thing. I kinda wish I had bought a FMX with a detachable bell housing. I think I could have made with that set up, but the C6 presented it self and I couldn't pass it up.

yeah with a detachable bell housing like a c4 etc it would be no issue

did alittle work today.... got the bench seat out and vacuumed out the floor in prep for the floor liner(fatmat) and also added a few hose brackets for the transmission lines to try and keep them neat

Not much work but alittle more done... started the floor liner. Would say i got about 40% of it done

Btw you need to move your trans cooler to Infront of your radiator or you might as well not run it at all. You do not want to heat up your trans cooler from the radiator heat!!!!!

Install instructions mentioned putting in between the rad and fan making sure there is about an inch between the fan and cooler

Not much of an update but dropping my driveshaft to be done

Trans coolers are NEVER to be placed behind the radiator!!! Trust me I do this for a living!! You never want your cooler to be heated you always want the fluid to be cooled as much as possible.

The driveshaft looks all pretty lol they did a nice job and it cleaned up nicely

Carpet not quite done yet

Anyone have any tips for installing the carpet, like best way to cut it to make it lay around the steering column etc?

66redrideri just installed a carpet in mine. I cut a straight line north of the steering column and will use tape on the underside to hold it together when I'm done. You won't be able to see the cut when done.
Used a sharp razor knife and a scribe poking from below to locate holes.

any pictures? Installing carpet is new to me. I cut a slit down the center where it met the column but its the goong around it to lay it flat that has me questioning myself

Carpet is fully in place, driveshaft is in but shifter is another issue. Was moving along with the install until i noticed a part on the shifter was riveted in place wrong so it will have to go back to be replaced

Was wondering if I could get some help... where can I tap into for my shifters neutral safety switch and reverse switch? Thanks.

I do not think these trucks came with the safety and reverse switches. They did not have backup lights. I do not recall what transmission you are using. Some c-6's came with the switch at the shift arm on the transmission itself. Most were on the column. You might want to take a look at later ford trucks and see how they did this.
