very familiar with this issue in the far north regions i used to live in
a 1\2 full barbecue tank (2.5 gallons) is fairly useless at -20F, bring it inside for an hour or so at +70 and it works fine.
bigger tanks like a 100 lb (25 gallons) are not so bad until they get near the bottom
when you get below -40F the real problems start regardless of volume
so if your expecting real cold weather, fill up.

That's true if your pulling off of the top (vapor) of the tank....
On a vehicle you pull liquid off the bottom of tank
Then it goes to a vaporizer which is heated by the engines antifreeze
It should give you good performance until the end....

I have no experience with cold weather yet with it
The coldest I've ever seen it in Kansas was about -17-*
And that is rare... Lot of below freezing -32* weather though

I wish TangleFoot would chime in here... He has several propane
Fueled trucks & machinery

Carter YF is the way to go. I spent $400 having my Autolite 1101 rebuilt by PonyCarbs, a place that is famous for rebuilding precious Mustang carbs (Autolite 1100 was in them too). Even after their famous rebuild, it never ran as well as several of my YFs (I was a carboholic for a while). Mid 2000's there were a lot of YFs on ebay. I was snagging them for $15 right and left. Sold a matched set of three to someone once upon a time, down at the fordsix.com forum.

Anyhow. Just do it.....

Biggest problem with a YF is that you will need a different air cleaner. Larger bore. Various options are out there. Cannot help more off hand.

but its when the liquid begins to freeze then you get nothing
around the same temp you can throw a cup of hot coffee into the air and its ice before reaching the ground
battery is fairly useless at that temp anyways so if your lp powered rig even turns over....
lots of cold weather stories
ill tell a few at the night shift
