Tire sizes for lifted 1965 twin I beam?

Hey y'all, new member here. 23 years old from Texas.

I'm doing a frame up resto on my 1965 twin I beam f100. I'm now to the point to where I've ordered a 5 inch lift from autofab. I'm just unsure as to what tire and rim size combo I should use?

Too big and it will rub, too small and the lift will make the truck look stupid. Could y'all who own the 1961-1966 f100's post some pictures of your trucks and share the lift/rim/tire spec for me so I can get a better idea of which to order?

Iceman, Slick 4x4 (Pat), Anthony and several others have lifted 4wd trucks with oversized tires. They would be able to help you with sized etc. Keep us updated on your project.

I run 37" tires
They are the same ones the military hummers use
I bought them used (but we're in "like new" condition)
I gave $100 a tire
Mounted on aluminum 16.5 rims

Dang, 37's? I run 35's on my f250 with a 4 inch lift and I love that look.
I was thinking maybe 16x10 rim and 35 inch tires?

And yea I've been taking pictures each step of the way, so I'll make a build thread sometime.

Are you going for a pre-runner ?
Not a lot of them in this style of truck

Slick4x4, I would love to do that! Autofab even has the pre runner lift/ fenders and goodies, but it's just too dang expensive.

So instead, I'm just going to a regular lift. This is honestly exactly what I'm looking for:

The big questions are how much you are willing to trim the fenders and how hard you are going to run the truck. 35s were the standard on 2wd desert trucks but the fenders needed modification. 33s are a little better. The trucks we ran in the desert used FULL wheel travel though. John at Autofab can tell you what tires you can run with his front fenders, but I don't know anybody who is making bedsides.

Keep in mind that you are going to need a good alignment shop if you intend to lift with the stock beams! If you can scare up a set of the radiused front fenders found on the trucks with larger original wheel diameters, or some medium duty truck fenders like Pat used, they will help. I ran 37's on a flare 2wd pre-runner with nothing added but long coilovers and some serious bends in the beams to allow proper alignment. With a one piece shaft, moderate axle shimming put the rear where I wanted it!

The truck is going to be a weekend warrior. Pretty much everything is going to be new and replaced on the truck except the body/frame and things like that.
The truck will see maybe 40 miles a week, and that will be to our local car shows.

Yea Autofab has a lot of goodies for the pre runner style.

I'm buying their 5 inch lift with the extended radius arm and bent I beams, they said over at Autofab that it's easy to keep aligned.

I want 33's, but I think they will be too small under that 5 inch lift. But that's why I wish someone had a picture of theirs so I could see.
