Stock F100 Tire Size?

This topic seems to have been discussed a frequent amount, but it seems that there is never a definite answer in any threads that I have found. I'm searching for a tire that is the same diameter as the stock F100 15" rims on my '63.
Going off of the old bias ply spare, it looks like the stock diameter size is somewhere around 28-28.5"

Does anyone know the various size options for 15" rims that came on 61-66 F100's? Or perhaps a link to somewhere that I can read about those options?

Thanks in advance

Good question. I've wondered the same thing. I have some 17s that I want to install but also require the diameter to be about the same. Following...

I know one of my trucks came with 235/75-15 tires on it, but these are the modern radial equivalents of the old bias ply tires.

Both www.tires.com and www.tirerack.com have tire size calculators that you can use to compare overall diameters, section widths, etc...

That way you can find which tires will have the same approximate fit as an original.

Thanks for the conversion charts, but do you know what the stock options were for the F100's from factory?
The old spare I have had a 6.70R15 on it. Idk if that's original or not. Or if the trucks could be purchased with 7.00R15 as an option?
I'm leaning towards putting 225/75R15's on mine, but I was more curious as to what size the trucks came with from factory.

Not sure ,but i think you could order them with 7:10-15. I have 235-15s on my 65 with no problem but i think the rears have rubbed the bed on the inside a few times.

Thanks Lowell, I think I may go with the 235 instead of the 225 now. It looks like it fills the wheel well nicely. Do you have a flareside or style side?

Also I happened upon an old post on FTE where number dummy said that 1/2 ton options for '65 were 6.70-15 / 7.10-15 / 7.75-15. So perhaps those options were for all 3 years?

The two extra 16" rims my 65 F-100 had were chrome and 5-6" wide. Only pair I have seen. Were they an option or special order?

Had some free time last night and did some more extensive searching. In reference to 16" rims I found a post (again by number dummy on FTE) that said 16" rims were an option for F100's. They came in 6.00-16 and 6.50-16.
I think I may just send him a message and see if he has an answer for the 61-66 years...

I have a 1964 ford truck sales sheet, on it, it list standard equipment :

wheels 5 hole 15x5-1/2K

tires 6.70-15 2 ply tubeless

Don't know if the same for 63 or not http://www.ebay.com/itm/1963-Ford-F-100 ... SwDN1URuRu
but it just like this one

These are Firestone 7.75 bias ply tires from Coker. I think anything smaller would look too small on a stock truck that isn't lowered.

Tire Diameter: 27.36 in.
Section Width: 7.28 in.
Tread Width: 4.70 in.

Thanks astronaut! Those tires look good in the wheel wells. That's a beautiful looking ride

I believe my 63 came with 6.70-15 so I'm going to try out 225/70r15. From my research they're both about 27.5".
