Slick 60's

I have a 66 F250 long bed that I want to convert to a short bed. Just found a 65 short box frame about 2 hours from me that's in great shape and it's cheap. Would there be any title issues with swapping my cab and bed to the shorter frame. I'm in NJ for reference.

Does the short frame have a title ?
If so... That's the one I'd use....

The serial number is stamped on the frame, Texas is a little picky about that too. I tried to buy our old LTL 9000 from a salvage yard and ask them to cut the frame off behind the sleeper and give me everything from there forward. I was told can't do it. Then could sell me everything from there back but not from there forward because the serial number was stamped on the front right frame rail.

Unfortunately it doesn't have a title. Based on what I had to go through to get the title to my 66 mustang, I might have to pass on this which sucks

Lots of measuring before cutting & welding....

I think you would have to get a salvage or rebuilt title if the frame and title do not match. No matter what you do, you are going to have something never built if you end up with a F250 title on a short truck. You could graft the back of the short bed frame onto the front of your frame. Or just move a 3x6 in piece from one frame to the other.

If you register it with QQ plates you don't have to go to inspection in NJ and Gasoline powered vehicles registered passenger, model year 1995 & older with a GVWR 8,500 pounds or less don't have to go and I have never heard of a Police Officer checking a ser.# on the frame of a 50+ year old truck in NJ . And two of my vehicles don't match cause I changed the frames. Tom

Slick, frame shortening was the route I was going when I found themail 65 frame &cab.

If I had the short frame already or it was free I would use it but otherwise I'd shorten the frame. I made an '86 F350 into a shortbed years ago, wasn't to big of a deal. I'm planning on making my '66 into a short bed next year and cutting the frame. I saw that '65 on CL a few weeks back, it's only about 20 minutes from me but just didn't think it was worth the money.
