'64 3 speed trans. ID please

I have a '64 F100 long wheel base parts donor with the original 292 Y block V8 and a 3 speed manual transmission with column shift. How many different 3 speed transmissions did Ford offer in 1964? And how do I identify them? I do not have the warranty plate with this pickup so I can not tell the trans. code. My '63 F100 is missing the engine and transmission but I have the warranty tag and it has a trans. code of A which means it should be a light duty 3 speed manual transmission. Any and all help is appreciated.

Unless it has overdrive, I'd bet the '64 transmission is a Ford 3.03 3-speed. Have you looked for casting numbers, marks, etc?

The '64 Owners Manual lists four 3-speeds; a Ford 3-speed and three Warner three speeds. The Warner transmissions are listed as 3-speed with overdrive, medium duty 3-speed and heavy duty 3-speed.

From the '64 repair manual:
Standard Equipment for F-series
Ford 3.03 transmission is a top load (plate on top of transmission) side shift. F-100, F-250

Optional Transmissions for F-series-
Warner overdrive is shown as top load (plate on top), side shift with overdrive unit attached to rear. T-86 (?). F-100
Warner medium duty is shown as a side load (plate on side), side shift. T89-C. F-100, F-250
The Warner heavy duty is a top load, top shift with two shift arms. T87-E. F-350

For four speed, the Warner T98-E is listed as optional for F-100, F-250 & F-350

I'm no authority on these trucks, but maybe this will help a bit...

Top loader? it is the ford;side loader, it is the T-89 MD. I agree. on an F100, it is likely the full-syncho light duty. It is also common for transmissions to have been replaced over more than fifty years of use, so who knows? If the trans tag is still in place; it'll tell the story, the original three speed behind the 293 lwb carried HEF-AD identification.

I am not good at uploading pictures. My photobucket account name is mrknudson if that makes it any easier to look at my photos of the transmission in my parts donor. They are too large of a file to upload on to this forum. Plus you can see another picture of my '63 unibody project in the before stage, hopefully. thanks to all for the help.
