I do. Ever since a couple week old Autozone cable cost me a tow truck bill. I use welding cable and an impact crimper. It's easy and you can make them to custom lengths. I use military grade battery terminals from Napa (NW 728222 and NW 728223). I really like the design and looks of them.

I made my own when I had heavy equipment. Way easier & cheaper. I had a big crimper for the terminals. Buy high quality cables & ends.

My local parts house has premade extra heavy duty cables in different lengths that are not expensive but I only use these on my trucks , haven't used any on a car.

when i was big into 4x4,s i started making my own i would use 1/0 welding cable, real flexable and abration resistance, would use solder lugs , no crimping and hd shrink wrap , never had one fail , bought all my stuff from https://www.delcity.net/store/Battery-C ... Am8G8P8HAQ
you can buy solder slugs you drop into terminal heat up with torch untill solder melts then stick bare wire into lug let cool.

Sounds like some good ideas here. You can have good cables without breaking the bank.
