wind shield washers

Post by willy12844 »

I have a 65 F-100 and am trying to figure out where the washers hook up to electrically so they can be actavated. I noticed that if I pull on the wiper switch it seems to pull out and retract when let go of, I don't know where to go from here. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill

I believe that the push button switch above the ignition switch is for the washers. 66KIXX has that switch and the original hood had the holes for the nozzles. But that hood is gone so I can't give dimensions.

Thanks Tracy for the quick get back. I have the nozzles in place and all the plumbing finished. I also hot wired the pump to be sure it was working and all is a go. Now you mentioned a push button above the ignition switch, that is where the lighter is, maybe that's not where it's suppose to be but it's there. I was thinking of putting a door bell type push button switch somewhere maybe even under the floor mate, but was just wondering if it somehow hooked up to the wiper switch.
This truck started it life out in the Army at the Rock Island arsional, and I've found a few things different about that were Government call outs, so I wasn't sure if I didn't have something different here. If you have any other thought's I'll be more then happy to have them.

the knobs which are spring loaded (pull out) have a tab on the backside where power to the washer pump is connected.in 68 or 69 they switched to the push-in type. you can use either of these .

the pushbutton in the vent pull hole is easy to hook up , saves changing the whole wiper switch.

no rhyme or reaon that i have deduced as to which were installed on which trucks, i have not seen a pattern.

the foot pump is also an option, used up to 64 on the f100/250 and all years on all the bigger trucks.
