Back again with a new 65 and have ?s about a 460

Post by mosquito13 »

Should never have sold my last truck... Well I still had the itch so purchased another 65 with 3 on the tree and 352. I have a complete front end out of 08 Crown Vic. . So looking for a newer engine with a c6 to go in at same time a vic front end. I have found a 93 f250 with low mile that was t-boned behind the cab . It has a automatic and a 460. Any worries besides the oil pan, and trans support if I go with this? Been looking for a 351 for a couple weeks with no luck.

I have a 460/C6 in my 61 lwb uni, but it has the straight axle in it. I helped my son put the crown vic front end in his 61 flair and had issues with the oil pan on his 223 six, but was able to keep the original motor mounts and made a trans mount for the T5 tail shaft. I understand this does not help your issue but I can tell you that having dealt with both the front end and the C6 on different trucks you will have to fab both motor and trans mounts. You should check out the crown vic page on facebook if no one pipes up here.

Great looking truck by the way

Yes joined the Vic FB page. Thanks I have not purchased the 460 as yet. Was wondering if there were other considerations of going with that engine. Oil pan , and trans brace , and motor mounts are all I could find searching here, ford truck enthusiasts, wish teh FB posts were searchable...

I've had a lot of 460 powered trucks over the years but if I was building the truck I think I'd keep looking for a 351W unless you really want a 460. I just think life will be much easier with the 351.

What’s the issue with the C6? I have a C6 in my 63. I used a passenger car trans crossmember I believe was out of a Galaxie or LTD.
