16"x5" 5 lug half ton wheels ????

Post by FarmMotorSports »

My new to me, short bed half ton uni came with 16"x5" wheels on the rear.
I'll get pictures up soon. It was dark by the time I got back with it.

The wheels have clips to hold the hubcap on...
I've never owned the optional 16" 5lug wheels and don't think these are original 61 ford truck wheels....
Anyone know what ford these wheels may have been on originally?
I give more details when I change the tires later in the week.

And for other details, no rot thru on the bed floor or torque box.
It came with a heavily used pea green tailgate complete with latches and rods.(every uni gate I own is pea green) :hm:
The rest of the uni is a faded charcoal color. No major body damage or rust.
The 60's bias tube tires took air and held up for the 15 mile drag home @50mph.

I really should put a speedo in the 3/4 ton empty or 3000 lbs behind it, it just purrs along just the same, no hint of the load.

Possibly military ?
But I wouldn't think they would have had a hub cap

years ago I bought a 65 F-100 over by Weatherford Texas and it had 16" wheels on it with the tabs on the inside < innies > and then when I first got my 65 Mercury, it had 2 16.5 tires on the back that where 5 lug and I think they are still here someplace + they where < innies > as well

I have a pic when my Mercury first came in, but at the angle it was taken cannot see a direct pic of the rear wheel

If they are 5 on 5 1/2, Hollander shows a 55 to 60 International will fit ford and I believe they would have had clips

Johnny
If restoring a ford was easy, chevy guys could do it.

Dad had a pair like that on my 65 F-100 when I was a kid. The were chrome, seems they were tube type.
