Hi, I have a 62 Unibody with a Y-block and 3 speed manual...I really want to put in an FE with Auto trans, I am getting my hands on a 62 T-bird 390 with MX (cruise-0-matic)trans...Does any one have original frame mounts and a trans crossmember, possibly looking for a shift link, I already bought an automatic steering column. Thanx in advance, email me zanman428@gmail.com.....I am in south suburbs of Chicago

I think, First year for an FE in light trucks was 65...which were twin IBeam. ( Different crossmembers/frame and mounting of the motor than a straight axel frame)

All earlier straight axel trucks were Yblock or straight 6 with 3 point mounting.
(IE... one in front of the block, and two on the Bell housing.)

So you are looking for something only found in the aftermarket crossmembers.
No ORIGINAL mounts exist.
:2cents:

If I'm wrong someone will set the record straight shortly.

Yup, FE was never used in a straight axle slick, therefore no factory mounts.......but there are a number of aftermarket Co's that produce engine & trans crossmembers for engine swaps, Trans Dapt has been making them for EONS, and I suspect most of the others are copies of their work.......

The trans crossmember looks pretty basic, two pieces of flatbar bent/cut & welded, I like some of their others made from round tube.....but the one shown below could easily be built by a guy with a tape measure, bench vise, torch, BFH (big hammer), and a welder

Yes, I have seen these brackets, was hoping all Ford was attainable...I was thinking 65 factory engine mounts and then the aftermarket trans mount.....

I wonder if the 65-66 F350 & bigger truck FE mounts could be used ?

A neighbor has a 1965 F-350 with two bell housing mounts and a single front mount. It is a driver, he said if he ever has to pull the engine he will call me over to take a look at the bell. It has a round starter pocket unlike the FT with the big square design.
