Different looking grille for the right truck!

The place to talk Slicks. All we ask is that discussion has something to do with slicks...

Different looking grille for the right truck!

Post by tomsrod »

I've been thinking of doing something like this with a bent up aluminum 66 grille I've been hanging on to. Cool idea.

Thats friend Bobs grill....

His truck was the primer black 64 long bed in classic trucks coverage of the Western Nationals.

I like a tube grill in some models, like the 73-79s, but not feelin it with the Slicks. Most of the appeal for me with the '65 is that grill. *droool*

I agree there is something about the 65 grill I really like to.

there's nothin to that grille. looks nice tho. if you had something cool to show off "fancy radiator"? it might be cool. I like the narrow billet grates they produce for newer trucks.

Saw a straight axle slick with a 65 grille, but the no turn signal upper panel, looked nice and took me a sec to figure out what i was looking at!

It'd look really sweet if instead of that fine mesh it had more of a honeycomb look like a newer truck. Almost looks like someone went to Home Depot and bought some window screen. I'm sorta digging it though.

ahh, yes, a honey comb would look nice in there... I think HE DID go to Home Depot... it is cool though... IMHO though, Home Depot grilles belong on beater 4x4s that got a boulder thru the front...

yeah I agree with the above 2 guys. if the screen were more opaque it might have been alright. That tube grille Slick posted is hideous tho.
It's a race.. Will hell freeze over or will JC finish his truck first. Stay tuned..

My original 65 grill was "farmer" abused, so I installed an alum 66, wrecked the truck at age 17, fixed it back with chrome steel 65 again.
I found another steel 65 just in case I need it again someday. Funny how much cheaper CHROME was back in 1995.
