Engine mounts to new front clip

Post by 66freezerburn »

Hello there, its been awhile since I last posted.
Now that I have my truck back in my posession I will be active once again.

I put a Dakota front suspension in my 66 and am now needing to bolt an engine in.(390)

I am wondering how other guys that have put IFS in the rides have remounted thier engines?

Engine ofset to the right?centered?
Should the engine be tilted back a certain # of degrees.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

The transdapt setup (not for IFS) situates the engine right in the middle. I believe the carb mounting flange sits about level. Honestly I don't know that it is "terribly" critical, but would be good to find out from somebody that knows more specifics.
'63 with 390 & lots of juice. But never enough. Always want more.

I used the two angle iron type trans apt, which would normally put a small block dead center, not offset. But, there are gusset plates on the inside of my frame from the Aerostar install, so because I was the thickness of the frame narrower, I could offset mine like it's supposed to be.
It's a race.. Will hell freeze over or will JC finish his truck first. Stay tuned..
