whiat weight oil do I use for open 9 inch rear?

Post by cosmo »

Im doing a frame off resto on my 1966 F-100 and now is the perfect time to refill the rear axle with some new oil, but the owners manual does not specify the weight

First off, I did check some past posts and I belive I have an open rear, There is no "L" on the tag and I can spin one rear wheel while the other stays still.
So I'm hopping that enough evidence that I dont have a limited slip. I down wasn to screw up with the additive, if I dont need it
Any advice would be appreciated

Use 90 weight gear lube. Or a modern 80 to 110 blend synthetic or semi synthetic. Beats the crap out of the Sperm Whale oil it had in it originally.

No nine inch rear limited slips were offered in 61 to 66 ford trucks.

If you wanted a LS differential you got the DANA.

If it starts to rain, they'll tax the splash.
If you want to fish, they'll tax the bass.
If you plant a yard, they'll tax the grass.
If you don't play nice, they'll fine your *$#!

The vent tube is the bolt that attached the brake lines.....
