King pin grease cap?

Post by needmoretime »

Anyone know what the thread size is for the grease caps on the 65 spindles?

Thanks,

If you are asking about the grease zerk thread size, I think it was 1/4 NPT, but not positive.

Little re-think on that. would not be 1/4 NPT, it would be 1/8 NPT

I checked an old cap with a thread gauge and came up with 1.50mm

Yea I know metric and all but it was a correct fit.

Let me edit this.

Ok so metric did not sound right for something from the 60's.
Went out to the shed and dug out a spindle from a 65 and checked
the threads on it. Came up with 16 TPI.
The cap I grabbed yesterday was from a 81 model. Remembered that after
giving it some thought last night.

The 81 cap threaded right into the 65 spindle though.
but 1.5mm converts into 16.933 so it would screw in for a few threads.

If you would please post what diameter & thread of tap worked.
I'm sure there's a few folks here that have had need for one

When I got my donor disc brake spindles one upper cap thread bore had been bunged up.
Used a old bullet nosed 3 sided scraper but it took forever to restore the threads.

Thanks Alan .................now who's birthday was it again :hm:
