What you need is a box like this one. I attached it to the frame rails, but you can mount it on rubber pads so as not to scratch your bed.

I have one like rosati has in my little ranger and I really like it. It sits flush with the top of my bed

I bought it at Sams in '95 for about $100
It measures 36w x 19h x 17d.

I would never buy a new tool box from a store. Go down to the local pick a part ,or in my area we call them wrecking yards  I got my last one for $50.00 and it looked brand new. Now Doc you can part with $50.00 much easier than $150.00. It will probably add to the "airodynamics" of the slick and give you much better gas mileage.

Doc,
I got one that I had in mine before I built the shell. Very good shape, locks & latches good, have keys fot locks. I don't think I will be using it again. Steel construction sure beats those plastic things. Full crossbox that sits on the upper box rails and has some room under to haul planks and such.

If you don't get Fred's, keep your eyes on your local Craigslist & such. There should be some cheap ones there, I know there's a constant supply of cheap ones in my local ads.

Hey Rosati, wouldn't your tool box technically be called a "Frame Rail" tool box?

I like to think of it a as a short bed with a tilt cover. No one has a short bed shorter than mine!
