New Pics Of The '66. w00t
Got my tires and wheels on the '66 today. It looks pimp. I love the smoothies and the tire size is just right. Would have liked something a little wider on the rear, but I wasn't willing to compromise tire rotation at this point with different sized tires.
Anyhow, on with the pics....
Where we started.... [Got those huge truck mirrors off, too.]
30x9.5 Yokohama Geolander HT-S on 15x8 Us Wheel Chrome Smoothies.
Little peek...
Down the side from the front.
And from the rear.
And finally... *droool*
Oh and my new gauges. Autometer Old Tyme Black.
And the 352 after a timing chain, electronic ignition upgrade and a carb and intake swap. The wire are for a 351C/400 and are a mile too long, but they don't offer these HEI style wires for an FE. *shrug* [Guess I should have waited til after we were done, the wires are together and in wire loom now.]
I got to drive it around the neighborhood again and couldn't get the shit eatin' grin off my face. I'm in love....again....after waiting 10 years.
Oh then my dad came over and while I was cookin' supper my brother and dad went for a ride and it lost oil pressure. D'oh!!

There was so much sludge built up in this engine, we're thinking something got stopped up somewhere or something. Either that, or the oil pump is done for. Either way, it's just gotta last me about 6-7 months while I get the other FE built for it.
Thanks for the replies.
Is it bad I keep looking at the pics over and over and grinnin' like a cheshire cat? I knew I'd have another one day, it was just a matter of time.

MMMM SLUDGE! sounds yummy.
I don't like sludge in the engine.
The ol 223 I used to have one night started squeaking really bad from the rocker rail. Next morning, I pulled it off and found that it was completely plugged up with crap. I probably should have pulled the end caps and cleared it out with a shotgun brush, but I wired the rockers together to open the holes, and pumped soapy water thru it for a few hours till nothing was left in it. Worked real nice.
hopefully you can get the engine to last until swapping time. What are you dropping in?

'63 with 390 & lots of juice. But never enough. Always want more.
The old 352 out of my '65. It had just been rebuilt, didn't have 1000 miles on it when I wrecked the truck.
We were originally just gonna drop it in this truck, but being it's set outside for 10 years, there's no telling what kinda shape its in. The guides and seals are probably shot. So for going to all the trouble of an engine swap it was decided to at least open up the 352 and go through it before setting it in, then be for sure what kinda engine and reliability to expect.
So this 352 just got enough to get it by til then. I'd like to bore and stroke it, get that whole stock on the outside, souped up on the inside thing going on, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
I've got a 429/C6 in my '78 Bronco that would be bad ass in this truck, but like I've said, being it's so complete and original, I just hate to mess with that. Besides there's something about the exhaust note of a FE, it's different and I like it.

I like the wire sets that come without the ends crimped on, then you can get them to a perfect length.
Great looking truck, it looks much better without the big ears (mirrors), too. Hope your oil pressure problem is an easy fix.

Yeah, I'm gonna get some of those. Kinda what I wanted to begin with, but I let my brother do the shopping, lol.

I know all about permanent grins on the face while driving these babies,
I'm the biggest grinner that you probably ever meet.
I compromised on the tire size, that is after I bought the next size up after I just bought my new set, at least I have spares and don't play on rotating except side to side, but they look much better with a little more beef in the wheel wells
As soon as I figure out how to post pictures you'd be pleased to see the 352 I've got in Ms. Daisy, not new to the site just don't use it enough to know how
