I posted this on the other website, I'll go ahead and stick it here too. What would you guys recommend, 351 Cleveland HO, or 390? Give me reasons why or why not if you don't mind. Thanks.

I love the 351 Cleveland. Had a 72 Gran Torino Sport in high school. It made a believer out of me and several victims. I have one in my 56 panel truck and a 390 in my 66. It actually cost less to build the 351C than the FE. The 390 seems to have more torque but the Cleveland is better suited to my likes. IF I was building a truck from scratch, it would have a 351C! With current gas prices, I would use 2 barrel heads.
my 56 with the 351 has 2V heads, Edelbrock Performer intake,CompCam 268H cam, and Holley 600. It has an AOD and will push that barn door nose down the road and get 18 mpg.

Everybody I talk to seems to like the Cleveland, haven't heard anything bad about it so far, guess that's what I'll go with. Thanks for the input.

The only Cleveland I ever ran was a 4barrel headed version in 70 Mach1. Ran great but it sure liked a lot of RPM. I liked the 351W better for street use.

That's why the smaller port Aussie heads respond so well. The 4 bbl heads wont run with them until you get over 6000 rpm. The 4 bbl are great for sustained high RPM use. You could go all out and build a Clevor.

If you go Cleveland than Aussie heads are the only way to go.
They have two major advantages.
1) smaller CC combustion chamber
2) smaller ports like 2barrel north america heads, improving lower rpm torque and horsepower.

I've been looking at the aussie heads for sometime now, especially on ebay. The engine was originally a 4bbl but I had a set of 2bbl heads I had aquired. Guess I've been talked into the aussie heads now :D, I want this thing to have just a little power
