You guys can have the great frozen north.
Actually, they deserve to speak french if they want to live up there.
But if you come south of the Red River, be prepared. Once you do, you'll never go back north.
Chili, brisket, ribs, pinto beans with jalapino's, corn bread, greens and grits, clear, dry 70 degree weather for New Years......... Oh, I could go on.
Thats right, you're not from Texas, but Texas wants you anyway...
God loves Texas..... :D

Skip. One time, our carpet company screwed up and I got chosen to go on a golf trip for a week on them, at the end of Feb, beginning of March in Dallas. We beat the crap out of some mighty fine golf courses down there. I remember it was so dang cold the night we flew out of Calgary, I wasn't sure my car would start and the windows never cleared all the way to the airport. (chebby)

The last day there, we were sitting around the hotel parking lot, ready to leave, and of course we couldn't wear shorts to get on the plane back to Canader, eh?. In MARCH it was too dang hot to sit outside in the sun in black jeans. Now, that was nice for MARCH, but I can't even fathom August there. So, it might be a good place to be a snowbird, if it's allowed to skip the grits that is :P , but you can have yer summers pal.

You should meet Mark the Hoofbeatracer. Could have been plucked right off the Corner gas set, complete with a Pilsner beer in hand, quite a character and a nice guy..

I go to Dallas in August every year. The weather outdoors is dreadful just because of the humidity. Amarillo can and does get hotter than Dallas in the summer, but we're further west and have about half the humidity.

The Texas Panhandle is like Texas' own version of Canada. Cold winters (its just now getting to 34 degrees), snow and ice regularly, and we're all treated like backwards hillbilllies and outcasts. I sit closer to three other state capitals than I do to Austin.
