62 uni

Does anyone know where to find out how many uni's were built. I have been searching since i've had my truck and i can't find any info. I would think a short bed big window would be pretty rare.

id like to see some picks of the slick and welcome to the forum, im new also with a 62 uni and thats a good question id like to know. come on fellas i know someone on here has to know where to look for it.

A guy selling one on ebay said there were 200 BBW unis made in '61. I think he pulled that information right out of his @$$, tho.
All the stats I have seen of these trucks don't even separate out unis, just say how many trucks were built. Never mind short bed, or big back windows.

Nonetheless, just because Ford never kept track of that kind of info, doesn't mean it isn't a rare and desirable truck. Because it IS.

Ford kept very detailed records of how many and what was built but unfortunately the records for all 1966 and older vehicles were pretty much lost. Some records do exist but they usually pertain to special programs like lightweight race cars and 427 Fairlanes. More mundane stuff like trucks was not important enough to worry about. The fact is teh number of shortbed big window trucks would likely be in teh thousands for each year just based on Fords philosophy of volume. It did not make sense to offer something if only hundreds were purchased. The volume of trucks made was enourmous and it is rare when a percentage for an option falls below 5% or so (I know of a lot that only hit 3% but 5% was kind of a target). Based on this there were thousands more than likely given that hundreds of thousands of trucks were made. Hawkrod

Twisted i just put some pictures of my uni in my profile of yhe day i trailered it home. It's in pieces now. I'm in the process of changing frontend.

I have seen those production figures before and they may be correct but I do not believe so. They made 60,000 plus Tbirds in 63, how could they only make half as many trucks with all of the models? I do not have much in the way of truck literature unfortunately compared to my car library but if those numbers are correct it is truly amazing that we see more trucks than any other model. I believe that the popular production numbers may actually be a specific line from total production. I could be wrong and if so I am sorry for questioning it. Hawkrod

John, 98 percent of production for the F100s were unis for 61 and about 60 percent of production... Remember this is of all the about one million light trucks sold in those years.

There are no set numbers to define total numbers.

Ford says so many type 81s were made and so many 66s

The lowest year production is 63 after the dismal sales and body flex issues.

Rarest is a big window F250... Only ever seen two of those. one a 61 and the other a 62.

If only 200 were made they would be selling in the realm of hemi cudas....

Garbz. I have seen a BBW '61 M-250 Merc uni. was owned by a crazy local junk collector, who fades in and out of reality. I see it is gone from his yard now, tho. I was waiting for the estate sale

He's still alive. The truck is gone.

I dont know how many were made, but I've been looking for a junk one since I've had mine w/no luck. I just want the roof so I can do a swap on mine. I know were several junk uni's are but not a bbw in the bunch.

Here and sun prone areas where it gets HOT... the big windows did not sell well....

Did you check out the big window in phoenix thats on craigs list for parts i posted in the southwest section?

There's a guy here in town that has a small wrecking yard that has 3 uni's and 1 is a bbw, i don't know how serious you guys are about one because i'm in oregon by the time you got it it probably wouldn't be cheap. but if your interested i could check.

I spotted this one locally last summer. Who knows, maybe it's still there?
