Master power brake booster ?
Master power brake booster ?
Anybody use there power disc brake kit? Does the new Booster use the existing 4 holes the original master cylinder uses? I have the firewall all painted/done so I didn't want to drill more holes in i.

Yes I have one, and yes it fit in the stock holes.
I had to flip the actual booster around on the bracket. It looks the same but has a tilt to it the way it comes. I also had to shorten the eyebolt (that comes off the pedal mechanism) in the kit slightly.
What setup have you got for an engine? if it's stock you will be OK. you could have clearance problems if the engine wasn't offset to the passenger's side like a Ford is supposed to be.

since you guys are on the subject... i talked to a local brake part rebuilder, a one owner joint that doesn't try to rip you off joint...
i do have a 65 booster and master/the bracket for the firewall. this guy also wanted the setup in trade for a ready-to-go chevy truck/dual diaphram booster. i was really hoping for a ford part. he was a chevy man by-the-way. i have not looked at the setup on my firewall and i have a 64 so i wouldn't think it would be much different, honestly. what i have is a 11 inch booster for the bigger truck which is under-rated for what they had done in the day to today's standards which is probably correct for an everyday driver. it is actually what you want today in my opinion for your own truck. so i would be interested in selling the setup if you are interested. i think it would be in good shape, the bracket and 'booster' also. i pulled the setup off of a truck that was used as a bucket truck. i also pulled this unit apart and looked at it and it looked good inside like it was an older rebuilt unit. this unit has a booster strapped together with a clamped strip to a nut and bolt deal. the smaller one "8"" has a twist-on deal that you wouldn't have the tools for.
my truck is gonna be a driver and a far from construction project at the moment. if you are interested in the bracket-to-master setup then i would be interested in letting it go. i can cut, weld, fill-in, and grind at the moment. jeremy0711@att.net
for your info... that hydro seems great and all. it got big due to street rods which don't have much of a choice on room. you can convert it to your truck if you like. the guy that was rebuilding this stuff showed me what could happen to your truck when it goes out. the pressure is high when it blows and when it goes it is like 80% chance it will go in your feet. you know that is some nice interior in your truck. dodge and chevy have a really bad one that they won't admit at the moment. when the pressure goes it can blow out the seal in the back and out the cast on the side since it is that high of a pressure. hmmmmm....vacuum doesn't harm a soul and when it goes out then you can still stop if you are strong enough. i like my clothes, legs, and interior personally.

never thought of modes of failure. that might suck. I dont know how common it is though.... There are lots of things that can go wrong, and most would be really bad, but I'm not freaking out about them.
I think you're right about the no vacuum engines, also helpful for super tight quarters installation (ie FE w/pentroof valve covers in a slick) I think a hydroboost would likely be my only option if I were to put PB in Aggie. However, she stops real good already, and would likely be dangerous with PB- too likely to lock up...

'63 with 390 & lots of juice. But never enough. Always want more.
