Slick 60's

I'm leaning towards using my original wheels on the F-250, but up to what year model factory wheels could I use? I'm thinking most factory wheels that would work won't look very good. Although some later model ones look pretty good.

I know Ford swapped to metric sizes sometime in the '90s on some wheels. If all 8 lug are the same that might open some options up.

I think at some point there was also a change from stud pilot to hub pilot but maybe that was only on the dual wheel trucks....

I thought these dodge wheels looked pretty good.



A PA member sold the truck then the new owner became a member. I can't remember his name but i think he knocked out the "ram" centers and replaced them with stainless steel.

All the factory 8 lugs will fit until the '99 up super duty. Ford then went to the 8 on 170mm bolt pattern. Chevy and dodge still use the 8 on 6.5 like the old fords. Chris

The 8-Lug wheels I like are the 16X7 Alcoa "Classic" wheels that were optional on most of the 94 - 94 E and F 250s. They are most common on Powerstroke diesels. I saw them once on a Slick, and think they look great. Hard to find used, and they retail new for about $900/set. Lots of people use them for trailer wheels, too. It is a very high quality wheel, very light (I think they are forged, too).

Trucks used the same wheel bolt pattern until 1999 when the Super Duty was introduced. They were metric after that. Not sure why Ford didn't change them, but the new E250/E350 vans still use the old English pattern. Just another avenue to shop.

I was told that the 8-lug wheels do NOT interchange between chevy/dodge and fords w/DANA 60 rear ends.
So, if you've got a DANA 60 rearend under your F-250, you've got to use ONLY ford 8-lug rims as chevy/dodge rims will not provide sufficient clearance for the brake drums....
Does anyone know if that's true?

You can use Ford 8 lug wheels on a Chebby but can't install GM wheels on a Ford because the Ford used larger centers in the wheels. Aftermarket wheels SHOULD fit all of the Big 3. Be sure to measure first before spending the money.

Aaahh,,,,,, so it's the CENTER HOLE that is the difference, not the backspacing issue for brake drum clearances...

the truck slick fan just got its wheels look great with a little cleaning if he parts out truck there you go wouldnt hurt to ask just my thought

I have firsthand experience that Superduty pickup wheels will not fit older 3/4 and 1 ton F Series. My dad tried putting two wheels from my old set for my F250 on his F350 and they wouldn't fit. Though We've considered trying to convert his F350 to 8x170mm lugs.
