WHAT DIFFERENT MANUFACTURERS HAVE BEEN THE BEST FOR DOOR AND WINDSHIELD RUBBER?I KNOW CARPENTER MAKES GREAT PRODUCTS ,BUT DOES ANYONE ELSE MAKE IT THAT FITS RIGHT? THANKS

Some while back, there were some members with problems with LMC door rubbers. Otherwise, I haven't heard any feedback. I know Carpenters are some of the best for the doors. I think the windshield gasket was still available from Ford, but you don't want to know the price. The dealers trade around on some of this stuff, and you may be buying the same gaskets from different vendors with different packaging. Carpenter makes his own, to the best of my knowledge on the door rubbers, don't know about the windshield gaskets. I buy mostly from him. I noticed some inexpensive sets from Clester's on Ebay, and asked about fitment, but no one responded. Sorry I wasn't of more help. Good vendors are Carpenter, and Carolina Classics, after that it's a tossup. I consider LMC fair, and have had some good luck and bad luck with them. There are several different MACs out there, don't know if they are connected, have had varied results with MAC. NPD is a big outfit and fairly reputable also, but again, big is the key word. Our trucks and fine detail could get lost in the bulk. It's hard to keep up with all the different vendors out there. A lot of the ones I knew have since gone away, and others I haven't kept in contact with.

Spend the extra money on quality when it comes to this stuff. You are obviously replacing it for a reason and the cheaper stuff is a crap shoot as to whether it will solve your problems or not. Installed correctly, the good stuff will do it every time.

Only buy seals and rubber from Carpenter or Carolina Classic. The other stuff does not fit. It is long in the middle and it will drive you nuts trying to make it work.

those who do not listen and buy rubber from anyone other than Dennis Carpenter or Carolina Classics deserve all the pain they get from the other rubbers.
save a few $ today, then curse for 3 when they dont fit.
anyone want to buy a cheap set of off brand door seals i ripped off because they did not fit?
spent $ for junk, learned a lesson, then bought from DC,they fit right.

all of my door an glass seals came from auto krafters they sell parts for 53 to 72 ford trucks did not have any problems installing any of it

Like us, as well as Auto Krafters & Carolina Classics are dealers for Carpenter & sell his rubber products as far as CLESTERS in NC many years ago when I worked with Rick we got one of those kits from clesters & when we recieved went straight into garbage which was 10-12 years ago so they might have changed by know... Seals was cut off a roll,,,Glass seals was very,very, oily & with them they do all rubbers for all vehicles so don't know how quality control is I know Carpenter tests their seals to see how they hold up in high heat,, We been using Carpenters seals since the 70's & been fine in our own trucks ... One thing to remember is that times have changed & some of these Big Companies are changing there ways on buying Tawain so Beware HAVE A GREAT DAY IN SLICKLAND Everybody

Tom is not one to blow his own horn here, so I might mention that he is a member of the club, and sells all kinds of new and used Ford parts. His Company name is Flashback Ford Patrs. He even told you he has Carpetenr seals. EZ.

I got door seals from LMC a few months back... which I'll be replacing. I got them sitting as best I could, and the doors themselves are aligned, but the doors just won't close easily. I have to SLAM them shut and even then half the time they don't get the second latch.

I've always thought that to be the case on all new door seals.
A few years ago, I bought a new set of OEM rear door seals for an '89 Suburban from the dealer. Once installed, the doors had to be slammed to fully latch. After about a month in the summer sun, the seals squished enough to allow the doors to close normally.

This isn't just pushing the doors closed rapidly; I have to really follow through with a lot of force, and even then it won't latch sometimes. This is after two months. Since the seals are already on there an I've got other stuff to work on, I guess I'll wait awhile longer.

My LMC seals are the LOW POINT of my restoration. Other than that, I was not disappointed with the LMC stuff.

After 3 hot summers, the doors still need slamming to get them to latch (and yes, I have tried adjusting the latch etc etc).

The seals don't seem that bad, in terms of pliability, but the end result is not optimal. Maybe its not LMC's fault, but I still wish I had went with DC or someone that's selling DC rubber.....
