Fellas - Slick Experts,

Check out the link/pic below.

http://groups.msn.com/slick60sfordfseri ... otoID=5964

Notice the extra panel beneath the steering column with gages in it.
Is this a custom panel or was it optional for some year some model?

--- I REALLY like it!

I never saw one like that so I think its custom. Looks like it was taken from an original panel and fabbed up to fit.

Nice idea!

That is Gerry Casey's. He told us about it at the first SlickStock and I was impressed with the idea. I have saved a couple of the lower dashes from trucks I have parted. My problem with installing my headliner stemmed from the stereo being mounted overhead so as not to cut my dash. It has held me back for too long. I am going to use Gerry's idea and mount my stereo under the dash , in the middle, using the lower dash sheetmetal. I like how it looks stock. I have always liked ideas like that and love it when I can make people scratch their heads and wonder.
Thanks Gerry

Definitely Gerry's. I rode in this truck a lot at SS3. You couldn't find better company.
It's a race.. Will hell freeze over or will JC finish his truck first. Stay tuned..

Thanks, Fellas.............. As I suspected.

I wondered about it since it is straight across the bottom - it doesn't have the "divot" in the bottom-center where the steering column would be..... and I don't know the Slick dash differences well enough to know if there were any without the steering column divot.

large gap between wheel and collar is not good but the lower piece is nice looking.

That's as good of an idea as the roll pan made from a bed rail. :thumright:

I'm thinking Gerry's panel might be more 'user-friendly' as the gages are out from the steering column somewhat.
Whereas, the "Aussie" dash panel has the gages in close to the steering column and might be tougher to keep an eye on.....

the earlier trucks had a metal grille that went over the speaker , looks a lot better in my opinion. most of the 65/66 with radios i have seen have the dash pad. my 65 f350 parts truck is like the one in the pic.

heres a pic of the grille

Hmmm...I'll have to look closer at my '65 when I get home tonight, I don't recall any screws holding the speaker like that. :hm:
Don't see any in this pic, but it's not really close enough to tell.

How about cutting a spare dash and using the top piece with the chrome insert? Flip it over and fill it with gauges, stereo, whatever.,
