I had mentioned earlier that the sill plate I got from Carpenters is shorter than the original Looking at your latest pictures I notice that your sill plate is shorter than the original. When I saw this I had to go take a picture of a set.

The ends do add an extra amount of support.

What am going to do is make the ends and weld them on, as the ends provide a lot of support to the step. The rear actually is spot welded on three sides and the front is spot welded on two(?) sides with the third side being the lower anchor for your front fender.

I will extend the new ones, and then repair the old set as I will be needing both sets for my uni's. All that needs repair on the old set is the front where the fender attaches, it needs a 1" flange welded in where it looks broken off the side as displayed in this picture.

Thats it, and you might want to weld it to the rear panel as there isn't much support on the outer edge of the sil plate. What did you do about the torque box behind the cab, I know I don't have any info on it other than I know it is an integral part of the body.

Keep up the good work and keep us posted.

Nice replication of the Torque Box.

You may want to article that and post it with dimensions.

Looking good.

Before you full weld the bottom sills mount a door and check the opening. I had one grow too wide on me on a project and i had to take out a 1/4 inch.

Just a little insurance.
