sounds like a good idea to me. I was gonna drill a big enough hole to put a padlock in it so while at the salvage yards and such, nobody could just pop it open and snag anything.

Ya, I had the same idea, to keep certain people from taking what they wanted from under the hood. I got my dad to pick up a small padlock latch, which scissors into the hole I drilled, and then put a padlock on the latch and it keeps it closed pretty good.

Hey John,

Can you give me a little better explanation of this? When I saw my "new"
Slick today for the first time, a loose emergency latch is one of the first things I noticed when opening the hood. Might have to just wire it shut for the trip home... really don't want that hood flipping up on me.

I personally drilled a 5/16 hole in mine. I use a padlock instead of the hitch pin shown. You start with a 1/16 drill bit and work your way up to the size you need. If you do it this way you can leave the hood and latch in place while you make the modification.

I installed an inside pull latch on my 62. came from a mid70s gm 1/2 ton.

Dion. It is really quite simple, drill a hole as shown and put a pin like that one thru it when the hood is closed. The pin won't go thru the hole the latch drops thru and will keep your hood down
