My Buick and the Viva Las Vegas adventure. . .pic warning

Post by TheOPWK »

I know this is a slick site, but this should be a good read when its all said and done anyways.
In 2 weeks, is the Viva Las Vegas weekend. 3 days of car shows and bands. Pre 1963 traditional only cars, no billet stuff, no Boyd styled cars, just basic rods and customs. Should be a good time. I decided to take the Buick the moment I got it. So I have been slowly chipping away at getting her ready. I know its not like driving cross country, but this car is old, and worn, but thats why I like it. The motor has never been rebuilt, I pulled the tranny and resealed it, but it has never been rebuilt, well, most everything is as I found it.
Here is the rundown:
As I found it.

Cleaned up:

lowered a bit. . .

Last week, I did the rear main seal on it, that sucked. and this week, I mounted and plumbed up my lake pipes. Also cut off my stock exhaust. No they cant be capped, Yes they are really f-ing loud.

Last night did a little something else

a couple more things to go, and then I am ready. I plan on taking LOTS of pics of the trip because , well, Ive never done something like this before, so it should be an adventure.

Loud is Good!!!!!
Running unbaffled glasspacks on my Uni so it's basically straight pipes with a deeper tone, lol. I will ditch even them in the future for straight lakes too.

Yeah, its a special, with a late 55 century motor. So its a 322 rather than a 264.

I'm embarrassed for you to drive that car. Send it to me and I will force myself to drive it everyday.

Well, went on a shakedown run on Saturday up to prescott just to see how she would do. And everything went great. Pipes get a little annoying when going down a long downhill becasue they just backrapp the whole time.
