Could have been the twin to mine. It's probably up there in N. MS somewhere. Either built just before or just after (consecutive serial numbers). Finding that one would be just too cool.

Factory crew? Not fair, you know I'm an addict and can't resist. Tell me more.
If it doesn't run and drive my wife and daughter would kill me. PM sent.

Pictures of my Ranger in 1966 when she was new

Post by Gritsngumbo »

Got a couple of pictures of my Ranger when she was new with the original owner (the seller's grandpa in the cab and white shirt) and showing the flat bed the original owner had made for the truck in his plant. The truck was purchased in March and the pictures have an August 1966 date on them, so they were either taken then or taken earlier and developed then.

The picture on the right shows the folding disc harrow on the bed, which was the reason for buying the truck(s) for the salesmen.

Anyone recognize the wheel covers? Anyone have a set :-). From seller's description of the covers (and before I saw these pics) I thought they were going to look like the one's Michelle found for her Ranger but hers seem to have five "spokes" while these only have four.

Here's another source for Galaxy repops:
http://www.hubcaps.org/galaxie.html#

FRD968 http://www.hubcaps.org/cgi-bin/shopper. ... key=frd968 appears to be the one's that are on my truck in the pictures
and
#FRD611 appears to be the one's like Michelle has on her Ranger.

Never knew that the 65-66 Galaxies had such a wide variety of options for wheel covers.
My sister had a 66 LTD with covers like #FRD602 (red centers) which were also supposed to be an option for the F100's. http://www.hubcaps.org/cgi-bin/shopper. ... key=frd602
which also came on the Broncos (no emblem on the fronts for the hubs to stick through).

Bed

Post by bluebolt »

That bed really hangs back past the rear axle. A litle calculation makes me think it was ten feet long.

Could be that long. Remember, the bed was designed for a "hinged" disk harrow to fit on. I should have measured the one they still have in the barn. The original bed is buried in the weeds a few miles from the sellers farm. But we simply ran out of time to look it up that day.
