hot rod primer colors

Post by Uncle Skip »

I have to ask.
Has anyone used, or seen a truck with the white hot rod primer on it and what did it look like to you?
I love the look of the flat black and grey, but I just can't get my head around the white.
I'm not arguing with you. I'm just explaining why I'm right.
Pardon me. Does your deaug bite?

Had a friend paint white primer on a 69 Rambler American years ago while doing his body work. It just looked like faded, chalky white paint. Not very appealing. I've only had one car project over the years that made it to paint so I have a lot of primer experience.

Good luck keeping a flat white paint job clean.

I was checking out the tailgate on the econoline.
The Ford lettering looks like it is falling down.
Never seen anyone do that! TR

I'm with Gary. I love the tail gate. Way cool. I do think the Econoline is nice but I'm still having conceptual problems with the flat white.

Lot of folks are using a dull clear to seal the primer now so it won't deteriorate.
Seems to be a cheap way to keep the look and avoid having to actually paint a vehicle.
Also you can put toner into your primer to color it before you apply the clear.
Seen a lot of that a few years ago. Some guys would take it a step further
and put flames or scallops on in a contrasting color like Greg did with his Uni but in primer
and then spray dull clear over it. Lots of ways to play around with it. TR
