I am looking for suggestions as to the right intake and header to install to go that extra step and push the engine.
I am learning as I go - as all my past restorations were stock.
Help me become the rodder I want to be!

key word. Legally.didgeytrucker wrote:I built a 1970 429 for my '78 back in 1987. I used the Edelbrock Performer (NOT RPM) and a Crane RV grind camshaft with a 600 CFM Holley. Casler headers fit the 73-79 chassis and might also fit the 61-64. I basically built an RV motor rather than a high speed motor. I drive the the truck from stoplight to 70 mph MUCH more than above 70. (But it will scoot way above 70.) That's why I chose the Performer and RV cam. They really shine in the stoplight to 70 range.
The '78 is a long wheel base supercab and weighs 4800 lbs empty. When the motor was fresh I could squeeze 18 mpg out of it.
What good is it to build a motor that produces horsepower at a speed you can't legally use?

Tires are 315/60/15 MT ET Street radials. you would think they would get this thing hooked upI have yet to get traction with them, so I will try my old 28/12.5/15 et streets again next time. Those hooked up halfway decent the last time I tried them.
