first post: 1965 f100 for a steal

Post by digler005 »

My name is P.J. and I live in Delaware. My first vehicle was a 65 f100 short body style side with a 352fe and 3spd. Unfortunately I had a need for speed and put all my money into the motor and drag raced frequently( 13 second range) and ended up blowing the motor and couldn't afford to rebuild it for a third time, so it sat in my parents yard and started to rot away so I had a friend whose father was restoring a 66 so I gave it to him to use as a parts truck. Man I have regretted that ever since. I should have never got rid of her. Flash forward to October 2012, I had been helping my cousin restore is 1 owner 1966 f100 step side(frame off) 300 straight six 3spd 465000 original miles never rebuilt, when he came across Blue, she was a 1965 f100 style side 300 six 3spd for an unbelievable price. We both went back to where Blue was and I bought her for 200 bucks without knowing what was wrong with her. To my surprise the gentleman I bought her from had done a frame off restore in the early 90's, a lot of her was in great shape just some rust in the usual places and best of all a jasper crate engine 300 with somewhere around 15000 miles on her. I was shocked and so excited. I had her towed home and put less than 100 bucks in her and she runs perfect. I plan on starting the restore this summer so her are some photos of my blue 65 and the green 66 of my cousins that is almost totally done now.[album]ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage[/URL[URL=http://s1316.photobucket.com/user/digler005/media/truck/101_1872_zps247de098.jpg.html]ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage][/album]

The PO's son used it towards the end of high school for his transportation plus it was stored outside uncovered for 6 years. The guy did do a pretty nice job of repairing some things however with todays products and materials, this time it will be sealed up tight to prevent too much rust. I personnally plan on making Blue a driver, a very nice looking driver.
