Just Ordered Dennis Carpenter Weatherstripping...

After screwing it up once with LMC's **** (and my passenger side door never closing right since), I decided to bite the bullet and shell out $130 for Dennis Carpenter's weatherstripping kit. It includes the windshield, both doors, and the rear window seal.

Someone please tell me I finally bought the right stuff and that the doors and windshield seal will fit! Tell me if yours worked!

The weatherstrip from LMC did fit around the door good, but was SOOOO thick/dense that no matter how hard you tried, the door wouldn't close for ****.

By the way, any tricks to installing (both windshield and door seals) to get it done right. Oh I have the chrome trim around the windshield.

Did your LMC windshield and rear window rubber not fit right either? I have all the LMC rubber and have decided to throw away the door seals and buy DC door seals. When I was fitting parts, I put the LMC door seals on and they never would shut right. If I can still use the windshield rubber it would help save some money.

I bought a rear window seal for my 66 from LMC and it fit just fine, have heard about the door seals not fitting correctly. I think you'll be fine with the window seals Kevin.

same BUULSCHITE with MAc's door rubber. Total garbage. HAd to slam the driver's door hard enough to make yor ears bleed almost like 5 times before it would shut. and STILL LEAKS because of HUGE gap at the top

I never put on the passenger side because it was so ridiculous. Now I am going so insane about the rattling/whistlingg that I gotta do something, but dont want to have my passengers have to deal with that, and/or be unwilling to do it hard enough/ rip off the arm rest trying.

I am pissed at the idea of the crap mac's rubber. And having to buy new stuff when I have $50 worth of crap rubber in my closet.... I should bitch loudly. we all should.

WHO IS WITH ME????

EVERYBODY WHO HAS BOUGHT THE CRAP LMC OR MAC'S RUBBER SHOULD GET TOGETHER AND BITCH LOUDLY IN UNISON. IF THE ENTIRE UNITED MEMBERS OF THE SLICK COMMUNITY (that has been ripped on crap rubber) GOT TOGEHTER AND YELLED LOUD ENOUGH THEY MIGHT GIVE US AT LEAST A PARTIAL REFUND..... Is it not even a little bit possible?

DC is so much better.... Man it irks me I didnt find them sooner.

I've got the whole LMC set too - front & back glass, door seal and vent windows - most of it all still in a box.

I bought this prolly 5-6 years ago when getting ready to rework my first slick. After joining this list though, and reading about how unhappy everybody was with the LMC door seals I held off. I had not heard about problems with the rubber kits from MAC.

My guess is that they both buy from the same mfr, and have never actually tested the product they are reselling. BA's got the right idea - we probably need to send them photos of the problem.

But I would recommend diplomacy. We'll catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

Hey guys,

I have heard that about LMC stuff also. I took the chance and bought all rubber from them and everything worked out pretty good.
Windshield and glass was perfect.
The doors fit good and they where real hard to shut at first, but they are getting better. Some days in the hot sun seems to help out.
It just don't seem right to have to slam one of these old doors to get them to shut because for years I had NO rubber.
All-in-all, I'm pretty satisfied with them so far. I guess you never know about some of this aftermarket stuff.
Just a chance we have to take, I guess.

I learned a few years ago to steer away from anything other than Dennis Carpenters, thats all I ever use now,alot of other vendors are selling bits and pieces of D C's stuff so every now and then you can catch a deal but usually a little higher,if you break down part cost from all the vendors the DC stuff will be higher on some parts and less on others,so in the big picture of replacing most weatherstripping and misc other parts you will come close to an average of all of the vendors,thats how I justify in my mind to compensate for my budget.
The way I look at it is the other vendors are middle men buying from distributors from around the world and,DC is the mfgr and sales outlet, plus they drive the same trucks we do and use their own parts too.

bought a windshield rubber from LMC while at slickstock. royal pain dealing with it, seemed to large but after a while we got it to stay on the glass and installed.

still have the taiwanese door rubbers i bought on evilbay,i installed 1, door would not close at all so i pulled it off and ordered from Carpenter. fit right and doors closed the first time.

Okay so once this arrives I'm going to try and replace the windshield seal first.

I just want to get a few questions cleared up:
- Does the chrome trim just pull out of the old seal once its removed from the cab?
- Do I put the chrome trim in the new seal BEFORE I install it in the truck?
- Does the rubber seal do its own thing or do I have to put some kind of gluey sealer stuff around the seal? If so, what stuff would that be?
- And overall, how hard is it to replace the windshield seal? Can two guys do it in a day?

How do I make sure I get a good seal? Or is it pretty straightforward as long as its installed right it will seal...

I really need to replace the old seal. It's so cracked and worn out that it leaks a lot. It leaks onto the dash and the floor gets wet when it rains. It sucks. This weatherstripping kit should seal up the cab good.

yes comes right out after the whole thing out of the cab

i never used anything, there may be some black goo on the lip from the factory.

last one me and the wife did it in less than an hour, would have been even faster if we had a seal that fit more snugly on the glass.

God bless Dennis Carpenter. The first thing I did after painting my entire cab in pieces was install the door rubbers and hang the doors. Scared to death they were gonna be typical aftermarket junk. Within 24 hours my doors were working like buttah. Last weekend I started putting in the window anti-rattle stuff and it's equally great. Ordered vent rubbers today to complete the doors. Carpenter's parts are not the cheapest.....but you get what you pay for.

With entirely new rubbing in the glass, windows, doors, anti rattlers, etc how quite is the inside of the cab? I want to get my 66 F100 to be as quiet as possible inside with NO whistles or rattles that will drive me crazy. The vent windows are horrible now and I was thinking about going with the door glass conversion kit with the single window that eliminates the vent window but I dont have the money for that.

I was able to find a NOS rear window rubber along with NOS rt door rubber. THe rest will be Carpenter unless I can find the Rest NOS

I bought the set of stuff from LMC, but after reading on here about the door rubbers, I never installed the LMC stuff on the doors. I did however use the windshield rubber when I got a new windshield installed, he said the LMC stuff works ok and he had to sweet talk it in the corners. I do have one leak, but he said he could fix it.

I went and bought door rubbers from DC, just haven't installed it yet...maybe this weekend.

For future reference does Flashback's or DC sell a coplete "cab kit".. Front & rear glass, doors, anti rattle, wing window stuff, ect, ect,????

Okay so I just installed the new weatherstripping on the passenger door (it needed it the most) and it fit perfectly. Was a bit firm to close at first but its slowly softening up. Way better than the LMC shit.

Jason - If memory serves me, Carpenter sells everything for the moveable glass as a kit, then you buy the vent rubbers separate.
