well its too bad someone had to leave over this.

my long winded post just got eaten in cyberspace , maybe that is as well so this one will be shorter.

i dont think the opinion of 1 Canadian or 1 Alaskan or anyone else matters to the magazines.

what you do with your truck is your choice same as me.

doing something just to piss off others or just because it fits is not my thing.

however when anything is put in a public venue, the public has a right to comment. 200 + years ago that right was given to all, and i choose to exercise that right, same as the magazine publishers.
if you believe in something stand up for it, dont run away.

I believe Garbz is referring to Elpolako.

Any time you post in a public forum like this, you risk having someone disagree with you, and feel as though you stepped all over their toes.
Many guys join a forum like this and think.. well hey, dave or john is a real arsehole, I don't want to have a public disagreement with them so I just won't post. When I joined slick 60's I was kind of in the same mindset.
The guy who really changed that mindset for me was a fellow named DOSPete.
He didn't give a flying rats ass WHAT anyone else thought of him. At first, he used to really p!ss me, and many other members off. Then, I got kind of used to his sense of humour, and once he finally dissappeared, I actually missed him.
If you don't like what I have to say, (you can agree or disagree, or) just ignore me, like I do Doc. It's just words on a page. Ain't doing you nor me any real harm.

And, for the record.. NO I do NOT go around at car shows, yakking at people who stuck a hemi in a hotrod or a chexxy in a fat fender, picking fights. The only time I did that, was with someone stupid enough to toss a super rare 32 Model 18 flathead in the dump and replace it with a Chev 350. People that stupid deserve to have a few unkind words tossed their way, regardless of circumstances, there are guys who would KILL to have one of those engines he literally tossed away.

Adam once again congrads. I looked today and had the same luck trying to find Classic Truck as i did looking for Custom Classic Truck (none). If ya have a pic of the truck that was in CT post a pic. so we can see it.

I guess ya feel like you went to a forum fight and a mag. publication broke out.

I just snagged a copy of the April issue of CT from Grant and Rob, and got a good look at your '65. I've always had a weak spot for lowered '65 longbeds. In particular I like the wide-whites... Your truck looks great, congratulations!

If we truly lost ElPolacko as a member then that's just sad. Does his truck really lose points based solely on the engine choice? Is it impossible to like because it has a non-Ford motor? I don't think so. On the contrary, I think it's one of the most innovative and unique slicks I've seen, and it's even built in a traditional style.

For the record, I like flatheads. I think they're cool, and wouldn't call them a "piece of crap". But let's face it, they run out of breathing well before reaching the limits of their three-main bottom end (hence the advent of the Ardun heads). The overhead valve design is technically superior, or manufacturers wouldn't be using it today. Granted, it is possible to make power with a flathead, and that's impressive, but there were better choices to be had for hotrodders in the 50's and 60's. Hotrodding is about innovation. The flathead was a leap forward from the 4-cylinder designs that preceded it, and the OHV design was a leap forward from the side-valve flathead. Plain and simple history.

Like what you like, and leave others to do the same. Anything else is a waste of energy, if you ask me...

Congrats Adam! Nice truck and I like the look of a lowered truck with whitewalls. The only way for us to get John Gilbert and the others to publish Slicks is to build em so nice that they can't be ignored. The brand X boys have outspent us and get the notice that they paid for. Here, Adam sent in his own photos of his truck as a sweet driver. I think Adam's story helped get it printed also. The point is that there is another Slick in print. Maybe someone will get fired up about that old truck he has or wants and build another Slick. But we have to have the number of trucks out there for exposure and also the quality of trucks needed for features. Until we show them that we are a mainstream, the features will just be as a novelty. If only a small percentage of a magazine's readers drive a certain type of truck, they really only need to publish a small percentage of articles about those trucks. I have a 1946 International Harvestor truck that I want to Rat-rod with a 300-6 cylinder to use as a driver. I don't expect to see many in print as there aren't many on the street.

Truckfarmer The Feb. issue of Custom Classic Truck has a I.H. which was restored by the owner. Not a feature truck but it's in there. My hat goes off to him, no. 1 he did it himself 2 no one reproduces parts for the IH 3 he painted it red

duno what weird box is on this one, it isn't one of the local ones. they look great with the grille chromed.

It is sad that we have run off some of our members with antics of others. I wish El Polako was here still. His truck is friggen awsome, I still have the mag that features his truck. We managed to run off a guy who built his truck his way. I agree with the traditional hot rod movement. THe SBC was the only thing that fit in there at the time that was faster than what ford had. Back then brand loyalty was secondary to going fast. People really need to lighten up. No one better come up to my trick talking shit about my truck with in ear shot. My way of doing things probabally won't give with other people. And that is the point, its my way, my money and my truck. It is really easy to be an internet know it all, and we all have a tendency to wave our E cocks around but we have taken things a little to far at times
